Stitching On The Go – How To Embroider Whilst You Travel

Exploring different embroidery techniques is part of the fun in learning how to embroider whilst you travel.

Get The Most Out Of Your Travel Time

My favorite way to squeeze in some extra stitching was to use my commute time and my breaks.

I always had a project on my desk, whether it was during the 30 minutes that I spent in the bus going to and from the office, or the 45-minutes of my lunch break. It was a great way to unwind from work and start my day calmly. This is like a mini-retreat from the stresses of work.

Did you know you can embroider while in flight? Recently, I was saved on a four-hour flight from Lanzarote. Most airlines allow you to bring your project into the cabin as long as you keep your scissors and needles in a sheath. Check with your airline before you travel. )

What are my top tips for making the most of this stitching time? Let’s get stuck in!

Embrace Small-Scale Projects!

Sometimes, I love to work on small projects! We all enjoy the feeling of accomplishment when we complete that project that took us literally over 30 hours to stitch. But don’t we also like the satisfaction of finishing a small project at the same time?

You can also take small projects with you when you travel! Smaller hoops take less time and are easier to transport. Consider stitching your project on a 4″ hoop or smaller. You can make bookmarks, keychains or patches. All of these small projects can be embroidered quickly and easily while on the move!

Utilize Embroidery Kits

Why not choose embroidery kit if you are relatively new to the art of embroidery and do not have all of the necessary supplies?
These kits are usually small and compact in size, so they’re perfect for travelling. You can also be sure that the kit will contain all you need to finish your project.

Embrace Simple Designs

let’s be real, you don’t have to work on a project that is super detailed and complex, or with more than 10 different colors and stitch types. A simple project, with a few colors and stitches, can allow you to enjoy the meditative experience of stitching.

You can take a simple pattern with a black outline like this, or an easy project with only 4 stitches and four colors, like this, with you to use in those short pockets of time.

Portable Stitching Supplies

Why not create your own embroidery toolkit to take with you? A portable kit with small scissors, needles and a needle minder will make stitching on-the-go more convenient. You only need to insert your latest project and you are ready to go!

You can also organize your tools better, which makes it easier to transport your projects. I like to wind my own thread on bobbins and then, once I have chosen my colors for a particular project, I put them all together in a split ring.

You’re welcome, friend! I hope that you are inspired by this idea to stitch on your commute or while you’re out and about. There’s nothing more relaxing than 15 minutes of unwinding and relaxing during your busy day. I am a much better person because of it!

My friend, I wish you a happy stitching!

Conclusion

Planning ahead ensures you can enjoy how to embroider whilst you travel without feeling overwhelmed by your supplies.

As a conclusion, embroidery while traveling is a great way to combine creativity with relaxation and make the most out of your trip. Packing a small embroidery kit and choosing portable designs will allow you to stitch on the move wherever you go.

You can use embroidery to express yourself and be mindful, whether you’re adding a few stitched during a train ride or embellishing an image while waiting for your flight.

Don’t forget your embroidery supplies the next time you go on a trip. Let your creativity flow as you discover the world. Enjoy your stitching!
